Shopping Tip$: If you are in the market for a new car, you may be able to find a good deal on "wheels" as dealers try to move any remaining 2009 and 2010 inventory in anticipation of receiving their 2011 models. Inquire about incentives being offered by car manufacturers and dealers including rebates and low or no-cost financing. Make sure you do your homework about the car and check the finances to ensure you can afford the purchase as well as the vehicle upkeep.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a voluntary recall of two consumer products: 32-Inch Sharp LCD-TVs Recalled Due to Risk of Injury Slow Cookers Recalled by Sensio Due to Fire Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Kohl's Department Stores Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. The New York State Consumer Protection Board is the New York State designee to the CPSC.

Western New York: Beware Of Storm Cleanup Scams

The New York State Consumer Protection Board (CPB) and the New York State Office of Emergency Management (NYSOEM) today urged Western New York residents to be wary of anyone who comes to their home offering storm cleanup or repair services. In the wake of recent storms, many New Yorkers were left with significant damage to their property caused by wind, rain and fallen trees or branches. Scammers may target storm victims, especially because homeowners, renters and businesses in Cattaraugus, Allegany, Chautauqua, Erie and Wyoming counties are eligible for low-interest loans issued by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for costs not covered by insurance.
